Two in one

In my online classes, one lesson was all about curves, another all about fish (don't ask!). Last month I photographed a wall outside Canyon Way Bookstore and Restaurant (one of our favorite restaurants). I was attracted to the yin/yang-ness of the curves. The fish were a bonus!

43 minutes at the aquarium

Car accident = doctor visits so I treated myself to a quick stop at the Oregon Coast Aquarium on my way home from the hospital. All I took was my camera with the 18-55mm "kit" lens. The best thing about this lens (other than it's very lightweight) is that it can focus as close as 6 inches. I set the ISO at 800 and the metering system at "P" (for "perfect") and had fun. The shots aren't super-great, but it was a relaxing, stress-free little interlude.

Unusual fish

I foolishly neglected to write down the name of this fish that I photographed today at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. I think it's some sort of cowfish or trunkfish, Ostraciidae. It doesn't seem to have scales, looking instead like it was patched together with bits of old leather baseballs! ©Carol Leigh
