Inside the Durango-Silverton Train Station it was very dark but I still wanted to shoot details such as the way 
the light hit the old drinking fountain, the 
subtle colors and filigree at the ticket counter, the designs on the radiator, and then a shot looking in from the outside. I wasn't using a tripod, so had to hand-hold the camera using an ISO that ranged from 400 to 3200. Look at the light. Isn't it pretty? ©Carol Leigh

Hurray for high ISO capability these days! Hand holding results in so many more photo ops! These are wonderful.
All awesome! I love the colors, soft light and composition. (If I left anything out, I'm sure I love it, too!)

You know, as long as I've been shooting and as long as I've been aware of light, it seems that just in the past six months my awareness of light has stepped up a notch. What causes this? Old age, probably! Ha! Being in Santa Fe makes one automatically aware of light and shadow, and to be conscious of incorporating shadows as integral parts of our compositions. I have an exercise planned for next year's Photomotivation project that will make us even more aware of light and the *subtlety* of light. But I digress . . .
