The art of seeing - 091123

I found a very cool section of rock today on the beach -- lots of perfectly round circles. I don't think this is man-made, looking more like a tafoni rock sort of thing. Anyway. Here's what I created, and here's the overview of what the scene actually looked like. 18-55mm lens used on both. Neat, huh? ©Carol Leigh

Hey Carol! I found you again! LOL This is Joel, I attended a couple of your workshops several years ago, Mono Lake and Mendocino among them. I'm "blogging" as well, but only when I travel, which is not as oftens as I want LOL...Hope all is well. PEACE! - J

Joel! I remember you! As I recall, you took an outrageously colorful and wonderful photo of some steps and a door in Mendocino, right? And was it you who made fun of my water-pouring skills at Nicely's in Lee Vining? Ha! Good to see your name pop up and that you've got a blog or two going yourself. Will visit them tomorrow when I have more time. I trust all is well with you (and your photography). -- Carol Leigh

OK, I really love the close up of the rock and holes. The soft (complementary!) colors are just beautiful. You isolated some wonderful patterns. Very cool.

Thanks, CJ. I think it's pretty cool, too. Now I've got to do some research about Oregon coastal geology to see what the heck all this is that I'm shooting. I took geology in college many moons ago. I took it "Pass/Fail," however. I passed, but I remember squat! -- CL

@Carol: LOL One and the same (for better or worse). Can't believe you remember all that! Do you still run workshops? I kind of stopped my "photography" for a good 5 years (not good enough) and was shooting slide film up until a month ago when on a whim I bought a DSLR for a trip to Europe. Big mistake, since I got a 50D and was fuming when my favorite wide angle lens wasn't wide angle anymore *ugh* LOL...
